Bill Fisher
A much-loved and respected volunteer member of the IOSH website moderating team and SHP’s editorial panel passed away unexpectedly in August.
Bill Fisher, who received the President’s Distinguished Service Award in May, died suddenly, aged 55. A moderator since 2001, Bill worked in construction for a total of 37 years, with health and safety roles occupying 25 years of his life.
Martin Bessant, IOSH lead moderator, said: “Bill moderated the website above and beyond the call of duty. He acted as my deputy and stood in for me on many occasions. He was extremely competent, and his efforts to contact people to offer advice or guidance will be sorely missed.
“His commitment to the website, and to IOSH, were recognised by the President’s Distinguished Service Award, something he was immensely proud to receive. His loss is a tragedy for his wife, Linda, and daughter, Charlotte, but it’s also a sad loss for IOSH.”
