Benevolent fund- Practical help when you need it
If you are a member who has been out of work for a prolonged period, or are suffering from ill health or disability, IOSH’s Benevolent Fund can help you.
The Benevolent Fund was set up eight years ago to provide practical assistance and funding for current and former IOSH members, their families and dependants during times of hardship.
Over the years, the fund has helped pay for medical equipment, like wheelchairs, and treatment; household appliances; and to help with training. Applicants to the fund have also been given advice on where they can get further help and assistance.
Cases have included a retired member, on the poverty line, with three dependents who needed to get their car taxed so they could return to work. Assistance was also needed to purchase essential household appliances. Another member needed funds when they were diagnosed with cancer, and used money from the fund to purchase essential everyday items and make repairs to their home.
All applications to the fund are in the strictest confidence, and are subject to the applicant supplying evidence of their hardship, extended ill health, or disability. Applicants must also have been a member of the Institution for at least five years.
For more information, to get help with applications, or to make a donation to the fund, please contact Sue Carabott on 0116 257 3180 or e-mail [email protected]
