Fire detection – Auto-Aligning Beam Detector

Apollo Fire Detectors Ltd has added the Auto-Aligning Beam Detector with Laser Alignment to its firedetection products family. With a range of 8 to 100m, the detector is said to be easy to install and maintain, with a key application being the detection of smoke in large, open areas.

A visible laser is used to align the beam during installation. A motorised autoalignment feature then ensures that the beam stays on target, counteracting the effects of building movement, explains the company.

Automatic optimisation technology compensates for dust build-up on the lens to eliminate false alarms, says Apollo, which adds that up to four detectors can operate from one low-level controller.
