CONFERENCE PREVIEW
HSE Global: Challenging the HSE Profession to get out of the Eco Chamber
SHP hears from the organisers of HSE Global Series ahead of its Learning Summit – UK North event focused on thought leadership for health and safety professionals.
Back in June the brilliant author and highly acclaimed speaker in the field of high performance, Matthew Syed, joined the HSE Global Series UK Learning Summit to talk about the importance of Cognitive Diversity in creating change.
During his workshop he presented a compelling case to constantly step outside of our eco chambers in the pursuit of making genuine impact and in our desire to advance a cause.
This message resonated so clearly the team at HSE Global Series and spoke to the intention of everything they have done this year and intend to do over the coming years to challenge and support the HSE profession in their pursuit of protecting people and planet.
If you’re not familiar with the HSE Learning Summits their intention is to build a community of learning with the HSE profession. By giving professionals an opportunity to step away from the day to day, to develop critical skills, to unlock new perspectives and to share the reality of creating change we create a safe space for professionals to share and grow.
With that in mind, this October they shall be bringing the world-renowned researcher and author, Amy Edmondson, to share her insights on creating Psychological Safety and Intelligent Failure to the UK.
Since releasing The Fearless Organization in 2018, Amy’s work has sat at the heart of some of the world’s most progressive and successful teams and the term Psychological Safety has entered the lexicon of most progressive leaders.
Fear of failure
Amy’s latest book, the Right Kind of Wrong, presents a compelling case for individuals and organisations to look differently at failure and to create environments in which people can make Intelligent Failures in the pursuit of Innovation and making Impact. But what does it take to really create a fail fast environment and what are the impacts of this on the work of the HSE Profession?
Surely no subject or speaker could be more relevant to the HSE profession right now?
Failure for years has been something that this profession has feared, something we have ‘protected’ businesses from but what if that very belief and perspective is holding them back from the professions ultimate pursuit of getting people home safe and well? What if HSE professionals can nurture genuine Psychological Safety and create more dynamic and adaptable workplaces?
It’s these questions that shall be explored with Amy through her keynote and during a Q&A where you will get to ask your questions of one of the world’s leading minds in this area.
Balancing thought-leadership and inspirational speakers with sessions where you can develop skills and share with your peers in all part of the carefully curated programmes.
