Ergonomic chairs – Activ

To help minimise the valuable downtime caused by work-related back pain, Plinth 2000 has sourced a select range of Scandinavian-designed, ergonomically-engineered work chairs to complement its clinical-grade treatment couches and dental chairs.

The Activ, with a backrest that adapts automatically to movement, is said to be suitable for clinicians, consultants and reception staff; the saddle-seated Supportiv is described as suitable for dentists, podiatrists, beauty therapists and others requiring flexible seating; and the Alternativ serves as a sit-stand stool, or chest support for those who work standing up, or close to the patient.

Plinth says its work chairs come in a range of upholstery colours and textures, or can be fitted with its washable vinyl to match the client company’s own treatment couches and chairs.

The company explains that the Activ combines form with functionality and is ergonomically designed from the base up, with a two-point movement principle. It means, continues Plinth, that the chair follows the slightest body movement, comfortably and ergonomically, helping to encourage core muscle activity.

The tapered backrest design is said to provide freedom of movement for the arms and optimum support for the back, while the height is fully adjustable. The moulded foam seat has an edge that, according to the firm, reduces pressure on the thighs, with the height easily adjusted by a control lever.
