Construction awards

Winners of the most considerate construction companies and suppliers announced

The highest-performing construction companies and suppliers in the UK and Ireland have been named at the 2018 National Considerate Constructors Scheme Company and Supplier Awards.

#loveconstruction2018The accolades reward dedication and commitment to the winning companies, showing that they have raised their standards of considerate construction and improved the perception of the industry.

The awards were held at the headquarters of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) on 15 and 16 November, with over 350 representatives of winning companies in attendance over the two days.

Of the Gold Award winners, eight shortlisted companies received the ‘Most Considerate Company Runner-up’ title and one supplier received the ‘Most Considerate Supplier Runner-up’ title.

The Scheme ranks all registered companies and suppliers against its Code of Considerate Practice, which focuses on several aspects of construction including ‘Secure everyone’s safety’, ‘Protect the environment’ and ‘Respect the community’.

The companies winning this year’s top award of ‘Most Considerate Company 2018’ were: Optik Leisure, Impact Roofing and Building, Thomann-Hanry and Munnelly Support Services, while the title of ‘Most Considerate Supplier 2018’ went to Waste management service specialist Norris.

Established in 2002, Optik Leisure is an interior refurbishment company which was rewarded for efforts including the funding of two occupational nurses specialising in prostate cancer screening, which resulted in 300 local men being tested.

Impact Roofing and Building is a subcontractor specialising in roofing repairs and replacements. The company has spared no effort in addressing areas for development, taking every opportunity possible to raise compliance levels.

Thomann-Hanry, an exterior building, cleaning and restoration company, has developed a system of working which minimises the impact of building and cleaning works in busy or strategic locations, allowing the public to go unhindered about their daily business. The company’s work procedures create zero levels of pollution, with 100% recycling and reuse of materials.

Munnelly Support Services specialises in logistics management for main contractors on capital projects throughout the UK. The company has exceptional systems in place to care for the safety of the public, visitors and the workforce. All traffic marshals receive additional training as first points of contact and act as site ambassadors.

Norris is a waste management services specialist and is continuing to go above and beyond to devise and implement the very best industry practice, a prime example being the recent introduction of a new Professional Driver Recognition Scheme.

Considerate Constructors Scheme Executive Chairman Isabel Martinson said: “On behalf of the Scheme, I would like to congratulate all of this year’s National Company and Supplier award winners, with special congratulations to the 2018 Most Considerate Companies and 2018 Most Considerate Supplier.

“Winning an award is an immense achievement and one which is highly regarded throughout the industry. Each award winner should be hugely proud of their achievements in helping to raise the standards of considerate construction across the industry.”
