Trio recognised for Responsible Care
VWR International Ltd, a distributor for the laboratory market, has won this year’s overall Chemical Business Association (CBA) Responsible Care Award.
The company, which was recognised as a winner in the ‘operational site’ category, beat Dakram Materials Ltd – successful in the ‘office only’ section – and HW Coates – which took home the ‘logistics services’ award – to the CBA’s top honour.
The Awards are designed to recognise the achievements of CBA member companies in raising standards of health, safety, and environmental management by going beyond the basic requirements of the Association’s Responsible Care programme.
VWR has a long-term campaign to reduce lost-time accidents and has achieved several international standards for occupational health and safety and for environmental management systems. The company has also achieved significant reductions in its carbon footprint.
HW Coates was recognised for its commitment to raising supply-chain standards through extensive in-company training, as well as through community initiatives.
The ‘office only’ award went to Dakram for its promotion of Responsible Care at every level of its business.
The Awards were announced last week at the CBA’s Annual Lunch in London, and were presented by comedian and entertainer, Tom O’Connor.
