Training – Asecos handling hazardous substances

German manufacturer of safety-storage cabinets Asecos says its practical lectures on risks and protective measures in handling hazardous substances feature live demonstrations of explosions and chemical reactions that can easily happen in day-to-day work.

According to the company, handling even the smallest amounts of flammable liquids incorrectly can have devastating consequences. It points out that the potential risk actually increases when staff are experienced and used to daily work with hazardous materials, because they can take things that they do or see often for granted.

In collaboration with DSC Ltd, which has wide experience in the evaluation, design, manufacture and supply of equipment required for the storage of hazardous substances, Asecos can organise an informative lecture, including live experiments, at clients’ sites in order to raise employees’ awareness and perception of hazardous materials. Asecos describes the lecture as informative, lively and thoroughly entertaining. It covers the necessary UK legislation, giving examples of legal requirements and prosecutions. The chemistry-style experiments clearly demonstrate what goes wrong when storage and handling is not taken seriously, explains Asecos.
