Chemicals body unveils compliance training programme

The Chemical Business Association (CBA) is now offering compliance training on demand to its member companies.

Members have been provided with a list of compliance topics and asked to indicate the topics on which their personnel require training as well as the number of employees involved. The current list of topics includes:

  • Emergency response;€ᄄ
  • Carriage of dangerous goods;€ᄄ
  • REACH; €ᄄEnvironmental compliance;
  • Classification, labelling, and packaging;€ᄄ
  • Health and safety compliance for smaller firms;€ᄄ
  • Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH);
  • Competition law;€ᄄ
  • Responsible care;€ᄄProduct stewardship;
  • Combustible liquids in intermediate bulk containers;€ᄄ
  • Dangerous substances explosive atmospheres regulations (DSEAR); €ᄄ
  • Trade controls for chemicals;

CBA chairman, Dr Neville Prior, revealed that the Association is committed to offering the training providing there are sufficient delegates to make each compliance training event commercially viable, and the scheduling of individual events is controlled by CBA. He said: “Regulatory compliance is a key issue for companies in the chemical supply chain. Over recent years, the rate of regulatory change has been so rapid that many smaller and medium-sized firms with limited technical and financial resources have struggled to keep pace.

“As the result, the level of demand for CBA’s cost-effective compliance training has never been higher and it has become apparent that member companies place increasing reliance on this service.

“CBA is proud to be making this commitment. As the industry’s regulatory framework becomes increasingly complex, we want to create a mechanism, which allows our member companies to drive the demand for cost effective compliance training.”
