Catnic brings loading solution to Safety & Health Expo 2017

Catnic will be exhibiting its robust and versatile LoadSafe solution at the Safety & Health Expo 2017. The LoadSafe Platforms provide a secure and stable work area for loading and unloading materials while still allowing quick vehicle turnaround – even where space on site is limited.

In the UK more than three million people work on or around vehicles with approximately 2000 workers being injured as the result of a fall from a vehicle each year. Furthermore, over 75% of major falls from vehicle incidents occur during loading and unloading. The reality is that a fall of just 1.2 metres is enough to cause serious injury.

The LoadSafe range helps to provide a solution and features a number of different options to meet the specific needs of any site.

For example, the 6m access platform is ideal for merchant yards where a smaller and more flexible option is required due to the variety of different vehicles it needs to accommodate.

For locations such as distribution loading bays, an 11m platform is available and provides a dual stairway for multiple access allowing efficient loading and unloading of vehicles. The LoadSafe range also includes side access screens and a 2.5 trailer-end platform.

The robust yet lightweight platforms are constructed from hot dip galvanized steel and can be easily moved into position using a forklift. In addition, variants such as the 8m platform have the option to install on two sealed linear bearings – meaning only one person is required to slide and lock the platform into position.

“Despite substantial safety advances in recent years, falls from vehicle incidents still account for a significant proportion of serious injuries,” said Kevin Wilkinson, Product Manager at Catnic.

“As such the industry needs a practical solution to help drive these figures down. LoadSafe was developed following extensive consultations with site managers and drivers to provide an effective way of mitigating the risks associated with loading and unloading activities.”
