British Safety Council annual conference to focus on future challenges

The British Safety Council is holding its annual conference on Wednesday, 4 October 2017 at The King’s Fund, London, with a focus on preparing for the future.

Conference speakers will explore present and future health and safety challenges that the industry is facing and proposes strategies for dealing with them at a national, organisational, and individual level.

The event features case studies, thought-leadership sessions, and expert speakers, and examines the following issues:

  • Planning for the unexpected
  • The implications of Brexit for health and safety
  • The future of health, safety and environmental management and what organisations should be doing differently
  • The changing world of work and the evolution of workplace risk
  • Case studies of successful strategies for managing mental health.

Mike Robinson, chief executive of the British Safety Council, said: “The conference will provide an overview of the pressing health and safety issues which companies currently face. It will also be an opportunity to hear from and engage with the experts and leading businesses who road-tested some of the most innovative approaches to the management of health, safety and workplace risk.

“We are delighted to have Professor Dame Carol Black on the panel. She will address mental health issues in the workplace, using case studies to demonstrate the simple steps that can be taken to reduce the stigma and support employees.”
