Construction industry prepares for 2017 National Site Awards

2017 National Site AwardsThe Considerate Constructors Scheme will be honouring the very best performingregistered construction sites at the 2017 National Site Awards.

These prestigious awards recognise those registered sites that have shown the highest level of considerate construction towards the public, the workforce and the environment.

Over 3,000 guests from construction sites of all different sizes will be attending award ceremonies taking place between 20 March – 7 April in Edinburgh, London and Manchester.

Out of some 8000 eligible sites, over 800 have been selected to win either Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards, within each of the following project value bands:

  • Band 1: Under £500k;
  • Band 2: £500k to <£1m;
  • Band 3: £1m to <£5m;
  • Band 4: £5m to <£10m;
  • Band 5: £10m to <£50m; and
  • Band 6: £50m and over.

One Gold Award winner per value band will also be given the prestigious title of ‘Most Considerate Site 2017’, with all shortlisted sites for this accolade receiving Runner-up Awards.

Considerate Constructors Scheme Executive Chairman Isabel Martinson said: “The Considerate Constructors Scheme is hugely proud of the ongoing commitment of the industry to further enhance its image. Each year, the very highest performing Scheme-registered sites make huge strides in going above and beyond the standards that the Scheme sets.

“The National Site Awards are an extremely important part of honouring the outstanding achievements of these very highest performing sites. We look forward to recognising and celebrating each award-winning site at the ceremonies being held over the forthcoming weeks.”

A number of leading industry figures will be presenting the 2017 National Site Awards, they are:

  • Chris Blythe, Chief Executive, Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
  • David Hancock, Head of Construction, Government Construction Team, Cabinet Office
  • Bill Hill, Chief Executive, Lighthouse Club
  • Suzannah Nichol, Chief Executive, Build UK
  • John Nolan, Chairman, Construction Industry Council
  • Don Ward, Chief Executive, Constructing Excellence
  • James Wates, Chairman, Construction Industry TrainingBoard

In 2016 Costain (project value £10m and over), Gentoo Construction (project value £5m to <£10m), Robert Woodhead Ltd (Less than £500k), and Walter Thompson Contractors Ltd (project value £500k to <£5m) were each awarded the prestigious title of Most Considerate Site.
