The SHP Legal Arena took place at the heart of Safety & Health Expo at the NEC from 11 to 13 May 2010 and featured a three-day programme packed full of top health and safety lawyers, barristers and other experts speaking on the most pressing legal issues facing practitioners today.
More than 1100 Expo visitors attended the 17 sessions, which looked at everything from directors’ duties to work equipment, and corporate manslaughter to personal-injury claims. The programme was topped and tailed by guest speakers from the HSE – board member and winner of the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award from IOSH, Judith Donovan CBE, opened the Arena by urging practitioners to “do health and safety because you believe in it”, while on the final day the regulator’s chief executive, Geoffrey Podger, looked ahead to the main challenges likely to face the profession in the coming years.
Audio recordings and copies of the slide presentations used in the sessions can be accessed by clicking on the name of the relevant speaker below. (Audio presentations last approx 30 minutes.)
