Training – NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety

01 February 2012

NEBOSH launched the International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management at last month’s Intersec trade fair in Dubai.

The examinations body highlights figures from the World Fire Statistics Centre, which estimate the annual worldwide cost of fire at around 1 per cent of global GDP – or around US$630bn.

The new NEBOSH qualification covers the causes of fire in workplaces, fire prevention and protection techniques. To achieve the qualification, students will need to carry out a fire risk assessment in their own workplace.

NEBOSH confirms that the International Certificate is based on worldwide standards and good practice from organisations such as the International Labour Organisation, the National Fire Protection Association, the International Code Council and the Confederation of Fire Protection Association Europe.

Commented NEBOSH chief executive, Teresa Budworth: “Our qualification will provide safety practitioners, managers and others with the know-how and skills to significantly improve fire safety where they work.”
