A ‘robot in a box’ has just been launched by automation consultancy, Innomech.
The company says RoBox uses a fast, highly accurate robot that can be customised to carry out repetitive, labour-intensive or hazardous-product assembly or quality-testing tasks in sectors where operators can be most at risk.
Initial target markets include health care, consumer, industrial and food-product manufacturing. RoBox can be quickly and easily reconfigured without its operators needing any specialist programming knowledge, according to Innomech.
It adds that RoBox can protect employees from the long-term health risks of repetitive strain injury and other musculoskeletal disorders that often result from low-skilled manual manufacturing processes, such as product assembly and packaging operations.
