Welcome to the latest news from Safety & Health Practitioner
(SHP).
Making the News this week: New EU guidelines have been
introduced to
protect health workers from sharps injuries; an advocacy
group is urging men to pay more attention to their health after
new research shows that the
average man born in the UK can expect to be seriously ill for 15
years of his life; and the MP who was the architect of the
Gangmasters
Licensing Act 2004 has
introduced a new Bill that would see the Act cover the
construction industry.
In court:
A construction firm and its managing director have been fined
following the death of a workman
at a building site in Dundee; a farm
labourer died after crashing a faulty quad bike into a tree;
and a factory worker received a double fracture to one of his
fingers after his
hand was drawn into an unguarded machine.
Plus: The deadline for entries for the SHP IOSH Awards is only
two weeks away.
