Organic waste management event puts safety in the mix

Representatives from the organic waste and recycling sector are gathering this week (17 July) for the fifth health and safety organic waste management conference.

The event, to be held at JCB’s headquarters at Rocester, East Staffordshire, provides delegates with practical guidance on how to improve health and safety in what it one of the UK’s most hazardous sectors.

Rick Brunt, HSE’s new head of waste and recycling, will open the plenary session and will outline the key action points for the sector and how it can work with the health and safety watchdog to drive up health and safety standards.

Members of the organic health and safety group will also offer practical case studies from across the sector.

The plenary session is followed by a panel debate that will focus on topical issues in the sector, such as health and safety site challenges across anaerobic digestion and composting.
