Fleet Safety conference and awards

The date for the annual Fleet Safety conference and awards has been announced by the road safety charity Brake.

The event will take place on 5 June 2014 and Brake is inviting entries from fleet operators and suppliers.

A range of speakers will be at the conference delivering messages on key fleet safety issues. There will also be best practice presentations from organisations pioneering fleet safety measures.

The key topics of the conference will include corporate social responsibility and road safety, managing grey fleet safety and using telematics to effectively engage drivers and change attitudes.

The awards are designed to recognise the achievements of those working to help reduce the number of road crashes involving at-work drivers. There are 11 categories, ranging from ‘best newcomer’ to ‘safe vehicles’. The deadline is 7 February 2014.

Last year’s winners include ABB Ireland Ltd, BT and Crossrail. Mark Sage, country sustainability advisor at ABB Ltd said: “Winning the Brake Driver Safety Award in 2013 heightened awareness of ABB’s ‘safe driving for work’ programme.

“Drivers and managers are motivated by good communications so sharing this positive news and the follow-on suggestions across the organisation has certainly helped us get our ‘drive safely’ message out to all staff.”
