EU-OSHA launches Europe-wide workplace stress management campaign

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) has launched a two-year Europe-wide campaign: Healthy Workplaces Manage Stress designed to help employers and employees manage and prevent work-related stress and psychosocial risks.

According to EU-OSHA’s latest pan-European opinion poll, 51 per cent of workers find work-related stress to be common in their workplace and four-in-10 workers think that stress is not handled well in their organisation.

The healthy workplaces campaign seeks to show how psychosocial risks can be handled in the same systematic way as any other occupational safety and health risk.

Launched on 7 April, the EU-OSHA campaign aims to promote the use of simple tools that can help organisations to effectively manage these risks and highlight the positive effects of doing this.

Organisations and individuals at local, national and European levels are invited to participate. The campaign will be co-ordinated at national level by EU-OSHA’s national focal points in more than 30 European countries.

Running for two years, the campaign will involve a range of activities, including training sessions, conferences and workshops, poster, film and photo competitions, quizzes, suggestion schemes, advertising campaigns and press conferences.

A headline activity in the campaign calendar is the European Good Practice Awards, which is launched on 15 April. European organisations that have successfully implemented measures to reduce and eliminate stress are encouraged to apply.
