Sharpening the focus on business health and safety in an age of austerity is the aim of a Safety Masterclass event in Ireland next month.
IOSH Branch of Ireland’s North West District is hosting the event to prevent health and safety bearing the brunt of cut-backs in both the public and private sectors, as the Government attempts to claw back €15billion between now and 2014.
Held at Ocean Sands Hotel in Enniscrone, Co. Sligo, from 9am to 1pm, the event features a talk from Professor Peter McKie, managing partner of PHM Associates (NI) Limited and former chairman of HSE Northern Ireland.
The masterclass is primarily aimed at chief executives and senior managers, in tandem with their safety managers, to get the expert view on what they need to do to effectively lead the health and safety effort in their organisations.
North West District chair, Mary Darlington (pictured), said: “This is our flagship event in North West District and is set to be a fantastic reminder of what good business sense effective health and safety management makes. This is even more important in a period of cut-backs, where staffing levels can end up being reduced and people find they have increased workloads.”
