We may be emerging from the recent global recession, but there’s a long way to go on the road to recovery. With business budgets tightening, times are hard for many health and safety professionals. Everyone needs a helping hand sometimes, and the IOSH Benevolent Fund is there to give just that.
The IOSH Benevolent Fund offers practical assistance to members who are experiencing hardship. It can provide help during long periods of illness or unemployment, aids for temporary or permanent disability, and help with education or training fees. Over the years, the Fund has provided help for a wide range of cases. It helped one member, who was on the poverty line with three dependents, to buy essential household appliances, and to get their car taxed so they could return to work
Another member needed assistance after they were diagnosed with cancer. The fund enabled them to get essential items and carry out urgent repairs to their home, as well as funding a lightweight wheelchair that enabled the member to continue their study.
If you want more information about the Fund, or you know anyone who might benefit from it, contact Sue Carabott on 0116 257 3180 or e-mail sue.carabott@iosh.co.uk
Applicants must have been an IOSH member for at least three years.
