Inspiring excellence – Health & Safety Week 2016

Print

Following on from the success of last year’s UK Health & Safety Week, in 2016 the dedicated week is inspiring excellence in the profession.

In 2015, the focus was on occupational health, with organisations being encouraged to run a health week in their company to raise awareness of the importance of under-represented health issues in the UK.

This year, UK Health & Safety Week is giving recognition to those people driving excellence in their organisation, with an event to celebrate diversity in the profession and an awards ceremony for up and coming leaders both taking place on the 23 June at Safety & Health Expo.

Health & Safety of Tomorrow

The Rising Star in Health and Safety Award celebrates future leaders of the profession, providing them with the much-needed confidence and recognition they deserve to go on to become inspirational leaders.

The award, supported by the British Safety Council, RoSPA, BOHS, and the Association for Project Safety, offers the winner a whole host of prizes to provide a perfect springboard for their career.

The Rising Star in Health and Safety Award will be presented alongside the LOcHER Project Award and NEBOSH Awards for the highest scoring individuals aged under 25 in the NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Diploma in occupational health and safety.

#SHE1000

Following the successful launch of the Women in Health and Safety network in 2015, Health & Safety Week is committed to increasing the representation of women working in the profession.

At #SHE1000, hundreds of women who work in the protection and management of buildings and people will come together to be part of an interactive, hour-long session run by networking expert Heather white.

Taking place on 23 June from 1.45 to 3pm at Safety & Health Expo at ExCeL London,#SHE1000 will provide attendees with the opportunity to meet and network with peers and influential people in their profession.

Safety & Health Expo

Sitting at the heart of the health and safety profession, Safety & Health Expo brings together three days of CPD-accredited content for the community in the form of theatres focusing on occupational health, lone workers, fleet safety, and the keynote theatre which welcomes high profile speakers to share their expertise on important health and safety issues.

Key figures in health and safety will be sharing the stage over the course of the exhibition with three inspirational keynotes, Kate Adie OBE, Colonel Tim Collins OBE, and James Cracknell OBE.
