HSE advertises for new chief executive

The Health and Safety Executive has put out an advert for a new chief executive.

Following the departure of Geoffrey Podger in August last year, Kevin Myers has been acting chief executive with Gordon MacDonald as acting deputy chief executive.

The appointments were made on an interim basis while the HSE was the subject of the Triennial Review.

The HSE has announced that following the review, the strategic direction of travel has been confirmed. In the job advertisement, the HSE also identified opportunities for the HSE to provide services on a national and international commercial basis.

The £160,000 a year position would be based in Liverpool and would involve providing HSE with “strategic vision and leadership”.

The successful candidate would have a demonstrable track record of delivering cultural change within complex organisations and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of regulation and management of risk within the modern work place.

For more details on the role and how to apply then download the applicant information pack from the HSE website.
