Take the 'ouch' out of laptop slouching - free seminar 05/06/2008- 05/06/2008
Take the 'ouch' out of laptop slouching - free seminar
Buckingham Palace Road, London
From: 05/06/2008 - 05/06/2008

British workers’ growing use of laptop computers is fast turning them into a nation of slouch potatoes. The problem with laptops is the way they are designed. Because you can’t move the keyboard and screen apart, users tend to stretch forward further than they should, leading to a hunching of the shoulders. As a result, neck, back and shoulder problems are all on the increase, particularly among the young. A British Chiropractic Association survey last year showed that 50 per cent of 16-24 year-olds are now suffering back pain – a leap of more than 30 per cent in just three years. With people spending more and more time using laptops for work, leisure or both, the amount of time spent in this unhealthy hunched position is increasing. In an attempt to break the cycle, ergonomic office solutions company Posturite (UK) Ltd has teamed up with Amex to run a free laptop awareness seminar for specially invited health and safety, HR, IT and occupational health professionals.
