CERAM has been accredited by the British Standards Institution to carry out on-site slip-resistance testing.

CERAM provides laboratory testing of individual tiles and pavers and believes that this process needs to be supported by accreditation in order to verify the traceability and quality control of results. The company says the BSI accreditation will confer greater credibility on results that are used in court, where CERAM regularly provides expert witness services.

The firm has expanded its ISO 17025-accredited laboratory testing service to include on-site testing, following a UKAS assessment of the on-site pendulum test earlier this year. It has subsequently attained BS 7976 Part 2: 2002 accreditation.

CERAM senior consultant, Lisa Cobden, said: "CERAM has offered a fully comprehensive, on-site slip-resistance consultancy service for many years. In conjunction with the new accreditation, CERAM is now able to offer an on-site slip resistance service for those simply requiring independent on-site verification of co-efficient friction data utilising a UKAS-accredited test. This service has traditionally only been available in the laboratory, so we are really pleased that we can now offer it on site."
