London Hilton, Park Lane
With more than 30,000 readers, and as the official magazine of the Chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), SHP is at the very heart of the health and safety profession. We take great pride in promoting the vital community we serve, which is why we celebrated its achievements by launching the SHP Awards in 2007.
The event was a roaring success – as one guest put it: “The health and safety profession has gained a reputation for being full of boring anorak types, who are generally afraid of the safety implications of getting up in the morning. Events like these awards go a long way to redressing the balance.” – and is set to be even better this year as IOSH has now joined forces with us to launch the SHP IOSH Awards 2008.
There is no doubt that the combined forces of the Institution, as Europe’s leading body for health and safety professionals, and SHP, as the UK’s premier publication for practitioners, will ensure that the awards have more impact, wider recognition, and greater respect throughout business and industry.
How to enter
The entry process for the 2008 Awards opens on 2 April, when you will be able to download entry forms from this site. As for the entry categories, like last year we have grouped them under two headings – industry/sector-specific and individual/non sector-specific – which, we believe, give all of you a chance (or several!) to have your own and/or your organisation’s efforts recognised. To find out more about the categories, and the criteria for entry, click on the Categories link below.
Who can enter?
Any individual or organisation can enter any category that they feel is relevant to their activities. More than one category can be entered – for example, if your training initiative also qualifies as a campaign, or your achievement in your sector was to run a successful health and safety partnership with a local community group.
Who will judge the Awards?
We had a stellar line-up of experts from the profession to help us judge the entries last year and the 2008 panel will feature many of the same faces, plus a few new ones. Judges’ names will be released to coincide with the opening of the entry process on 2 April, so watch this space.
When will the ceremony take place?
Get your diary out now and set aside Wednesday, 8 October as the night you and your peers in the health and safety profession get the recognition you deserve for the excellent work you do. Once again, London’s Park Lane Hilton will be the venue for the celebration, which will include a champagne reception, sumptuous three-course meal, a well-know TV personality host for the evening (all will be revealed in due course!), and a range of fun after-dinner entertainment, when you can really let your hair down.
